A beautiful fall day in Mount Auburn Cemetery

This is my favorite time of the year! Nice cool air and beautiful foliage of yellow, red, and orange. I joined a small group of people to explore the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I am usually not a big fan of going to cemetery, regardless of the interesting things you may find there. This is different. Mount Auburn Cemetery is the first landscaped cemetery and the first large-scale designed green space that was open to the public in North America, It was and has been a tourist spot since 1831 when it was founded. It’s influence can be seen in several cemeteries in the United States. It was recognized as a National Historic Landmark by the Department of Interior.

I was very lucky to explore this place, since I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to go. The weather was beautiful – sunny, blue sky, and cool. It is fascinating to see the landscape, plants, birds, and certainly, notable names buried here. Such as Winslow Homer, Isabella Stewart Gardner, etc. The view is magnificent. I had a great time taking a walk in this beautiful fall day.

Cemetery could be a tourist spot? Unbelievable! Hope it could influence Taiwan someday.
