Arrived in Milan/Piacenza

I took the Golden Pass train ride from Interlaken to Montreux, the last stop in Switzerland. It’s a nice city next to the Lake Geneva. I only had the time to stop for lunch. I went to a family style restaurant Cafe du Grutli. Since they have fondue and I have never had it, this is my final chance to try it in Switzerland. So I got a fondue with bread – simple and enough for lunch. It was Great! The train ride to Milan/Piacenza was uneventful. I was really happy to see Cristina and Antonio at the Piacenza station. They helped me check in to the B&B and brought me to a restaurant Antica Locanda Del Falco for dinner. It is located next to a castle. Although it was dark, I can still see how beautiful the place is. And… The food is amazing! I had the best italian food of my life. Thanks Cristina and Antonio for the wonderful food and the most appreciated, their company. They are wonderful people. We had a great conversation in addition to good food. My plan is to explore Piazenza a little, and head to Milan for the opera. I will also play at Cristina’s Monkey Gym before I head to Milan. 🙂

The food looks great, especially the wine. Did you drink it??!? What a great memory: your first fondue in Switzerland.

Yeah, I did drink some wine over the dinner with Cristina and Antonio. Antonio did a good job of pouring the wine into my glass. 🙂 He said it is a bottle of local Italian wine. It tasted very good. And all the pasta dishes last night were great. I was in heaven!

The chief in Montreux (dressed in yellow in one of the pictures) was very patient. I really couldn’t read the menu, and he mentioned about fondue, I didn’t want something too heavy. So he recommended just bread to go with it. The restaurant in Montreux is really friendly, I also talked to a Swiss couple who sate next to me. They went there because of its home made dishes, I was at the right place!

Yum! And to be honest, I couldn’t walk straight after dinner… I felt a little light headed…
