Art museum and concerts

This year, I explored more museums and attended more concerts than usual. The experience has been wonderful.

I haven’t been to Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts for a long time. They have built a new wing from the existing building. In addition, there was a special exhibit for John Singer Sargent’s Watercolors. That’s enough of reasons to pay a visit. Sargent’s work is beautiful. More of my taste of Impressionism. Although the colors tend to be lighter using watercolor, my favorite painting is a dark painting of Magnolia. I was enjoying watching it for a good number of minutes. There were several special exhibits as well. I was really happy to check out some modern art pieces – my favorite. It’s amazing to see the creativity and feel the thought putting into the pieces. The new wing was very impressive. I particularly liked the tall glass sculptor at the courtyard. It’s very colorful and organic.

I like to try new things and am always curious about new stuff. I remember it has been a while to hear a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert. I noticed that BSO was playing Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem in early November. That’s a great reason to pay a visit. The stage was the biggest I have seen at the symphony hall. The music was hunting and beautiful. The orchestra did an excellent job as usual. The soprano, tenor, and the baritone did a fantastic job. The baritone was very operatic, singing and performing wise. I am glad I caught the concert.

Talking about trying new thing, at the end of November, I went to Amos Lee’s concert . He is a country rooted singer, but can also sing blues, rocks, pop, and even souls. Although he didn’t sign my favorite song “Violin”, he did sing “Keep it loose, keep it tight” and of course, “Sweet Pea”. He is an excellent performances, especially when he does the solo with the guitar. You can hear a nice touch of country. It was very earthy and emotional. Well, he ended the concert singing Boys 2 Men’s “The end of the road”. And he did a great job! The crowd went wild since it is such a different genre that you would expect from him. The lighting of the concert was wonderful too. The concert was a warm and hearty experience on a cold winter night.
