Since I am only staying in Vienna for less than 2 days, I pretty much followed what Lonely Planet tour guide recommends: Stephansdom – a beautiful cathedral, Kaisergruft – tombs of Habsburg elite (after I checked out the tomb under the Stephansdom), Schloss Belvedere – Klimt’s painting The Kiss was shown, walking by the Hofburg, and of course, attended an opera. In between, I also checked out the Naschmarkt, just in front of my hostel. When I was tired or hungry, I would stopped by a cafe and had a cup of cappuccino. Just being a typical tourist in Vienna. My impression of Vienna is that it’s much more tourist than I thought, compared to Berlin. It’s not a big city. You can walk to points of interest reasonable easy. And, I have never seen so many tombs/coffins at any other place… 🙂 I will head to Munich tomorrow by train. Look forward to seeing what Munich is like.
Stephansdom is the landmark and can understand it must be full of tourists all year round. It seems you will not visit Salzburg to meet Mozart in this trip.
So many places, and so little time… I will enjoy the Alps in Switzerland instead.
