Driving to Sagres, fort, beach, seafood dinner, and sunset

I was really worrying about driving the manual car. Fortunately, the guy at the car rental center saved the day. He offered me a car with automatic without additional charge. Boy, what a relief! I really don’t think I can drive a manual car and browsing the map at the same time.

I was lost in Lisbon before I found may to the south shore. After more than 3.5 hours of drive, I arrived in Sagres safely. Before I went to the lodging tonight at a Pousadas, I decided to check out the fort in Sagres first. It’s a huge area to walk around and to view the amazing seashore. I probably got more sun than I planned. I took a hike in the fort. It felt cooler, probably because of the sea breeze.

I then checked in to the first Pousadas of the trip. It’s a beautiful and peaceful location. I got the view of the ocean from my room. Next to the Pousadas, there is a beautiful beach about 5-10 minutes walk. I went down and soak up some sun before the dinner at a local seafood place. The Algarve clams and the grilled golden seabream were both wonderful. I was reminded to enjoy the sunset at the southwestern-most point of Europe, the Cabo de Sāo Vincente. Lots of people went there for the same reason. It’s a windy spot but the sunset was absolutely stunning.

It’s a great day without dealing with the manual car. I am really glad I made it to Sagres!

Yeah, right hand and left foot are busy for managing a manual car. How could a driver browse the map or sip a cup of coffee at the same time?

Nah, I don’t think I will survive driving manual. It’s less stressful driving automatic to me!
