Time flied. Summer has come to the end. Although I do enjoy the look and the smell of the fall, summer in New England is very charming.
During the Labor Day weekend, I went to upstate New York for a retreat. In addition to good homemade meal, the peaceful lake and the beautiful mountain were fun to explore. Dan, who I met at the retreat took a beautiful picture of the sunset. It’s something, isn’t it?
The weekend after the Labor Day, I made my annual trip to Provincetown. Thanks my friend Matt for offering his place for a fun long weekend. The ferry from Boston to Provincetown was peaceful and pleasant. It’s wonderful to be on the water on a sunny and blue sky day. After I arrived, I borrowed a bicycle from Matt and started to explore around. I like Provincetown after the busy and hectic crowd in the summer. There were still plenty of people in Ptown but it’s much quieter. In addition to trying out different restaurants, I also ran into a car show at the pier. Although I don’t know much about cars, I enjoyed browsing them. I also ran into Glenn who is a cop in the Ptown. It’s fun to catch up with him on the street.
I hiked through the wave breaker toward the lighthouse. It was during the high tide and the end of the wave breaker was under the water. I had to cut short and hiked back earlier. I ran into this couple who were fishing at the wave breaker. Specifically, wife was sitting on the beach chair and reading with an iPad. Husband was fishing. I made a joke when I walked by that, the wife is using iPad to track where the fish is. When I walked back, they caught a big fish! They were asking if I want the fish. Well, I would love to but I couldn’t do anything with it! In 10 second, the husband caught another big fish. They were really pushing me to bring the fish back. I texted Matt to see if he wants it. Matt texted back a bit late, after the couple released the fish back to the water. Still, it was very nice of them!
My last day in Ptown was action packed. I bought a painting at a gallery after I stopped by the open house the night before. I always enjoy the style of Impressionism. This painting drew me into it when I was browsing different paintings and sculptures at the gallery. Matt later went to the gallery with me and helped me purchase the painting. I am glad I bought it – it is hanging nicely in my dining room. We picked up the painting after we went to a show “Well-Strung”, performed by 4 musicians. It was entertaining. We went back to his car before we went for dinner at the Front Street. After I put the painting in the trunk, he pushed down the trunk door while I was putting in an envelope of the artist bio. Bam! He hit my head with the trunk door! Boy, it hurt, but it’s really funny too! We went to the restaurant and he asked the owner to bring me some ice. I was balancing the ice pack on my head at the dinner table. I am fine now, but still, it’s funny!
Before I went back to Boston, I stopped by a coffee shop, sat down, and enjoyed a cup of cappuccino. I was talking to this girl from New York who has a rescue dog. This dog couldn’t pull his tongue back into his mouth! I was laughing so much that I mad sure she doesn’t think that I was making fun of her or the dog. It’s just really silly and cute. 🙂
It seems like I couldn’t stay still. The weekend after, I went for my comfort food at a Sushi restaurant in Arlington after my skating practice. And I joined the crowd at the Huntington theater to check out the musical “Jungle Book”. It was entertaining. I haven’t been to a musical for a while. It was well performed and the stage was beautiful.
Talking about couldn’t stay still, the weekend followed, I went for a hike with my friend Alex at the Blue hills. It was an easy hike and the view from the top was very nice. We also went to the weather station at the top to get educated about various weather instruments. The hike was ended with a visit to a Russian supermarket. Alex is Russian and he would like to show me the supermarket. I had a fun time browsing at the market. We also picked up some prepared food in the market and had a picnic in the parking lot for dinner. Why not? 🙂
Let the fall start!
