I went hiking with my friend Brian at the White Mountain National Park in New Hampshire. There is a Presidential Range in the White Mountain with several peaks named after US presidents.
We decided to hike Mount Eisenhower of the range. It’s a 3+ hours ride from my house to the mountain. We drove and stayed at a lodge near the mountain on Friday night. So we could have an earlier start on Saturday. It’s a 6.6 miles of trail. Several parts of the trail are a bit challenging. We happened to pick a weekend that was pretty hot and humid. We packed enough of water and up we went. The trail was not busy but there were some number of people hiking as well. The scenery was beautiful. Brian (I called him a muscle head), hiked pretty fast and just wanted to go to the peak. I enjoyed the flowers, the tress, and the view during the hike. My pace was still compatible with his. We took about only 3 hours to hike through the whole trail, beating everyone who started ahead of us. It was way too fast!!!
We could still see some icy spots along the trail. Mount Washington was in the background. Although the weather was sunny, a sign close to the later part of the trail reminded us how unpredictable the weather can be ahead of us. We were lucky that the weather remained pleasant. The breeze at the peak was really nice. A good first hike of the year.
