Last day in Zurich, heading to Lucerne

The weather is very nice today. I decided to go with my favorite way of exploring the city – walking. Fortunately, Zurich is not a big city. Exploring by foot is very convenient. After a light breakfast at the cafe downstairs, I started my walking tour. I walked by the neighborhood near my pension. I got settled at a restaurant Alpenrose for lunch. It offers a good selection of Swiss cuisine. I followed the recommendation of the waitress, and ordered the deer steak. It is in season. It came with sautéed chard, mushrooms, with tiny red berries. It also came with a plate of home made dumpling. It was really good. I also tried the Swiss version of the coke. The whole meal was wonderful, at a timber-clad wall decoration inside the restaurant. With a good meal in my stomach, I walked through the river bank, checked out the beautiful stained-glass at Fraumunster and Grossmunster churches with the St. Peterskirche clock face in the background (the largest clock face in Europe), and reached the north side of the Lake Zurich. The wether was great for walking around. I found out that there will be a concert at Fraumunster tonight. I took went for the 7pm concert and hoped that I will be able to take the train on time to Lucerne. The concert was wonderful. Music with organ, violin, and cello. The acoustic of the church was great. The opening piece is Suite op. 149, which was beautiful. It’s a short concert, about 1 hour long. I pretty much closed my eyes the whole time and let the music in the hall flow through me. At the end of the concert, it felt refreshing and recharged. Even better, I caught the train to Lucerne and checked in my backpacker’s hostel on time!
