Magnificent Jungfrau

My plan today is taking the train to explore the Jungfrau region. The weather was excellent today – blue sky and sunny. My EuroRail pass doesn’t cover this part of special/regional ride. I would have to pay extra to take the train. I went a head and got the ticket for a loop of the ride in the region. I wasn’t planning to go to the top of Europe (Jungfraujoch), which is the highest train station in Europe and can only be reached as part of the loop. After the first part of the train ride with the gorgeous weather, I really enjoyed the magnificent scenery. So, I decided to head to the top of Europe. It was a wonderful experience. The mountains are just incredible. I went up to the Shpinx observation terrace. I also took a hike through the glacier and reached the Monchsjoch hut. My hiking boots are not really designed for the hike on snow. The biggest challenge is the-air-is-ve-ry-thin. I was out of breath every couple of minutes. However, the view was just magnificent. I reached the hut right after the lunch time. I didn’t plan to hike today so I was extremely hungry. There is a little restaurant in th hut, where I got some soup with sausages and bread for lunch. So I can be recharged to hike back. Boy, I was tired afterward. After I checked out the plateau and the ice place at Jungfraujoch, I headed back to Interlaken, and took the train to Lauterbrunnen. Followed by a bus to Stechelberg and a cable car ride, I arrived in a small town Gimmelwald in the Jungfrau region. It will be my home for two nights. The pension here is cute with a Swiss style. I had a nice plate of pasta for dinner, while sitting at the patio and enjoying the reflection of the sunset on the mountain. It’s a quiet, beautiful, and relaxing town in the deep mountain. I am looking forward to hiking in this area tomorrow.

Unbelievable! Google street view can reach as high as the Sphinx observatory! Actually I have tried to track all the spots you have ever visited by Google earth from the very beginning. You are not alone!
