With a last-minute fashion, I booked a flight on Wednesday night and traveled to Fort Lauderdale, FL on Thursday. I decided to take a break for the long Memorial weekend.

I also decided to try Spirit Airlines and see how they were. Well, I won’t fly them again! Not only you have to pay for the carry-on (yes, carry-on!!!), the seats are extremely uncomfortable. There was no front pocket at the seat that I sat for my trip to Fort Lauderdale. On my way back, my knees were squeezed by the seats in front of me. I felt so bad for the two guys sitting next to me. They were big guys (think football players) and they were extremely uncomfortable. We had a good laugh about not going to fly Spirit Airlines ever again…

Fort Lauderdale was okay. The hotel room was part of the time-share. It was very roomy with a huge bed room and living room. The hot tub in the bed room was nice. I spent some time on the beach reading, people watching, or day-dreaming. As usual, I tried to find some interesting places for food. Boy, the thick baked pancake made with cast iron at the Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House was incredible. It’s creamy inside and crunchy outside. Surprisingly, I didn’t too many good restaurants. I do like the burger at BurgerFi and enjoyed it for lunch with my friend Manny.

The highlight of the trip is taking the airboat tour at the Everglades Holiday Park. The scenery is wonderful with the blue sky, green water lilies leaves, and clear water. We spotted a couple of alligators. I picked a good day to enjoy the outdoor. The alligator show after the ride was performed by the people in the TV show Gator Boys. I don’t know who they were but they were entertaining.

It’s a short trip. I am not sure I will go back to Fort Lauderdale again, but I got the beach, the sun, and the relaxing time for myself. It’s good enough!
