I woke up early to beat the heat in Marvão. I decided to hike through the wall of the whole castle. It was fun to walk along the edge of the wall. A good exercise before breakfast!
It’s a long drive today from Marvão to Porto. Especially, I stopped by a couple of town to see if they have a specific item I want to buy and bring home – more about that later in another post. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it anywhere…
When I arrived in Porto, it was late afternoon. I took the suggestion from the hotel and walked about some street to check out the city. The architecture is very interesting, especially near the river. I was just having fun walking around and browsing what’s coming up at the next corner of the street.
There are several port wine cellars for tourists to try some of the wine. Some pretty famous brands I believe. Well, I am certainly not an expert for wine. I can still feel the red wine I drank at Marvão. So no, not drinking port tonight at the dinner. 🙂
I went to a restaurant Arc de Rio, which is inside a glass box near the river. It’s wondering to enjoy the sunset while having dinner. The prosciutto with melon was delightful. The seafood stew with rice, shrimps, and fish was very hearty. The chocolate mouse was amazing. I am we’ll fed this trip!
I ran into an Italian guy Francesco after dinner. He is also in Porto for vacation. He is leaving tomorrow, and very kind of leading me to a couple of places around the Porto in the evening. The temperature was cooler after dark. It’s very pleasant to walk around. We even walk on the Luis bridge, which is a very high bridge above the river. The light on the bridge is beautiful, as well san the surrounding buildings. Thanks Francesco!
