A summer day on July 4th

July 4th is in the middle of the week this year. The weather was expected to be hot during the July 4th holiday. I took a day off and headed to a beautiful New England town called Oqunquit. It’s located in Maine and takes about 1.5 hours drive crossing Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and finally Maine. It’s funny that, within a short drive, I can go through 3 different states!

Oqunquit is famous for its beautiful beach. Although the water was too cold for me to jump into it, lying on the beach was wonderful. I arrived in the beach around lunch time. I got a lobster roll for lunch and enjoyed it very much on the beach. For a couple of hours, I was lying on the beach, reading a book, day dreaming, people watching, or staring at the clouds. It was not too crowded and the sky was beautiful. It was wonderful.

When the dinner time came, I went to a restaurant recommended by my friend called “Barnical Billy’s”. Since I am in Maine, I got the New England clam chowder and a steam lobster. It’s great to sit outdoor, have some ice tea and a lobster, and watch the boats flowing by. I took a walk on the beach after dinner. It was peaceful and quiet with the stars and moon shining in the sky. It’s a beautiful seacoast summer night in New England…

I stayed over night and headed home the next day. I needed to pick up something for dinner. I guess it was a lobster holiday for me. I picked up some little neck clams and guess what, a lobster! After I arrived home and got myself cleaned up, I cooked the clams and the lobster. The lobster was cooked perfectly, to my surprised! This is the first time I steam-cooked the lobster. The color was beautiful and meat was moister and tender. I used the combination of butter and olive oil for lobster dipping. Yum! A lobster holiday indeed!

What an impressive lobster holiday! Lobster roll + whole lobster + whole lobster again within 2 days. Except the beach, there is a cute draw brige in this beautiful town. Comparing extremely high temperature in some areas, people in MA,NH and ME are so lucky to enjoy the summer time.
