Explored Lucerne and arrived in Interlaken

After I arrived in Lucerne last night, i just tried to get settled into the hostel, and slept. I chatted with my only roommate a bit late last night, and exchanged our experience in Germany. He is from LA. Similar to me, he doesn’t drink either. He didn’t walk in to any of the beer halls at the Oktoberfest in Munich. He was very interested in what I saw in the hall. This morning, I walked along the Lake Lucerne, and headed to the Old Town. It was foggy in the morning but clearing up slowly. A walking tour again – I seem to get a routine going when I visit a new city. I checked out the Chapel bridge, with some interesting paintings illustrating the Swiss and local history. I then got some brunch food at Jazzkantine. I got a nice sardine bruschette. It’s an arty kind of cafe/bar. I then walked to see the Lion Monument, the dying Lion of Lucerne. It is carved out in memory of the heroic death of the Swiss mercenaries at the Tulleries in 1792. Continuing the journey, I went to see the Musegg Wall, which is part of the rampart walls built in 1386, and climbed up in one of the towers. I walked through the Spreuer bridge before I caught the boat to Alpnachstad, and took the train to Interlaken. The trip was a bit longer than just taking the train from Lucerne. Since it’s a sunny day today, I decided to take a longer route and enjoyed the view from the lake. The boat ride was relaxing. Especially, I had a pleasant conversation with a English lady during the boat ride. Mountain is the specialty in Interlaken. I only got to see part of it since I arrived in the late afternoon. I hope to get to see more of it tomorrow. Oh, dinner. I went to Goldener Anker and got a pork chop. It came with a big salad on the plate, which is what I was looking for. They did a good job to offer my big meal of the day.

I remember the Chapel bridge was burnt down around twenty years ago. From your pictures, the new one looks still fantastic! Thanks for nice pictures from Lucerne.

Although it is commercialized, Lucerne still has its charm.

    Justin,

    Your photos are excellent!

It was hot and humid here yesterday. Now rain for a couple of days. And then autumn returns. Crisp at night.
    😉
