Music filled summer

As part of the Arts Weekend in Boston, I went for the brunch at the Fairmont Copley hotel, with the performance by the musicians from the Handel and Haydn Society. H&H was founded in 1815. That means it is America’s oldest continuous performing arts organization. They are famous for playing period instruments and delivering beautiful sound through their chorus. The brunch and the performance at the Fairmont were both excellent.

After the brunch, I did some quick shopping at the Newbury street. After I stayed at a cafe to cool down a little, I found a spot on the lawn in Copley Square for the concert by Alison Krauss. She is an amazing bluegrass singer and sang several songs in the soundtrack of “O brother where art thou”. The whole soundtrack is wonderful to listen to. Listening to Alison Krauss in the middle of busy downtown Boston is an incredible experience. Who knows? Listening bluegrass in Boston can be so enjoyable.

Talking about enjoyable, I was extremely grateful attending Tuck and Patti’s performance at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston last night. I first time heard of Tuck and Patti’s song “Time after time” on the radio when I was in St. Louis for my graduate school back in 1995. Since then, their music has been in my life. Two weeks ago, I happened to notice that they were coming to Boston to perform. I bought a ticket immediately. My friend Tim heard of me going and got a ticket as well. We were sitting about 15 feet from the Tuck and Patti. Patti was smiling genuinely during the whole performance, which made you feel welcome. Her singing was magnificent and free. The guitar by Tuck was just mind blowing. It was a wonderful concert to attend. After the concert, they actually came out to greet the audience as folks leaving- they had another performance to do immediately! I couldn’t resist to tell them when I heard their song. Patti was so warm and welcoming to chat with me a little. Patti was really sweet and gently interrupted Tuck’s conversation with another person. So all three of us can take a nice picture. My friend Tim did a fantastic job capturing the moment. What a wonderful memory…

For the people who would like to experience their performance, I happened to find this video (more than 1 hours and 30 minutes!) posted on Youtube. It’s wonderful to watch the whole video. At 1:09 – my favorite song “Time After Time”.

This is the video of them performing “Tears in Heaven”. It’s simply beautiful.

What a music filled summer this year!
