Road trip around the island

I visited several places since I arrived in Curaçao. I decided to just drive around and stopped whenever I wanted today.

After breakfast, I drove to the west and visited some more beaches. The beach in St. Michael didn’t attract too many people. I kept going west. I ran into a pond next to the road with wild flamingo walking around. It was fascinating. I also stopped by a couple of churches and took pictures of them. There is a sense of tranquility about them. Perhaps the colors, or maybe the architecture. I stopped by the Porte Marie beach and the Jeremi beach, before I had dinner at the Rancho El Sobrino restaurant. These beaches were beautiful. I went for their catch of the day for lunch at the restaurant. The cat seemed to want a pice of it. Well, I did feed her a piece of fish. She was talking to me the rest of lunch. 🙂

After lunch, I went to my favorite beach of all the ones that I visited: Grote Knip beach. It’s busier this time. I found a spot, left my backpack, and jumped into water. The water was very clear and the sand was white. On a sunny day like today, I could see colorful fishes swimming next to me. I also lied down and read some pages of my book. The highlight is when the ice cram truck came! Folks were lining up for the ice cream. I said to myself – why not. A good snack on a hot day at a beautiful beach.

I managed to stay awake and drove back to my hotel. Since this is the last night for me in Curaçao, I wanted something good for dinner. I picked a restaurant called Fishalicious. I didn’t have too much trouble of finding it, after I drove around here for 3 days. It was a great choice. They have fresh seafoods from the ocean locally, as well as shipped from Holland. I got two Dutch raw oysters in addition to Dutch mussels for appetizer. Not only the flavor was different, it was cooked very well. I got red snapper and a beef stew for the main dish. It was terrific. I was full but decided to try their dessert. The strawberry mouse was not too sweet. Just enough to enjoy the natural flavor. I had a fantastic meal to end the day!

My flight will depart in the mid afternoon tomorrow. After I returned the rental car in the morning, I will just hang out at the hotel until my airport transfer arrives. I looked at the temperature now back home in Lancaster – it’s 34F. It’s 81F in Willemstad, Curacao now. I will soak up as much sun as I can tomorrow!

Some flamingos at aquarium and lots of wild flamingos at the pond. It’s really fascinating! The seafood dinner looks so delicious, I like it(with Heineken)!
