The first full day in Canberra

I had a good night sleep at the hostel. The bed was actually comfortable. Just followed whatever other backpackers are doing. Went to the Australian Institute of Sport for a tour this morning. It is the training center for Olympians. I was the only visitor for the tour so it was a “personal” tour. It was interesting to look around. I then went to the Parliament House and explored a very interesting building. I even got in to the House of Representatives and listened to the debate during their question time. It was more confrontational than I thought. The subject of the debate is carbon tax. The Prime minister was yelled at and laughed at during her statements by the representatives several times. Tough crowd! At the lobby, I was “sort” of arguing with a local who was protesting today, against marriage for gay people. I was wondering why some people in the house were wearing a ribbon on their suites. That’s how I found out about their agenda. Boy, I thought I was shy, but felt like I had to say something!

The architecture is very different. A very airy design.
