After breakfast, I joined in the tour arranged by the hostel and visited the last surviving Nazi forced labor camp. It was built in 1943. I didn’t know Germany had a camp for people who are Italian, Russian, and other countries, and forced them to work. I then went to the East Side Gallery which is the longest remaining section of the Berlin wall. Artists painted various subjects on it. Took the U and walked on the Unter den Linden street. It led me to the Brandenburg gate. The ticket to visit the dome at the top of Reichstag will need a couple of days to reserve. So I walked to the Holocaust Memorial and checked out the information center. The columns and the exhibits inside the center were hunting. Took a walk in the city park Tiergarten and reached the Victory Column. It looked stunning on a sunny day like this. I was having a hard time finding the restaurants for dinner. The ones listed were no way to be found. I was so tired that I came back to the hostel. I had some dumping soup for dinner. It’s pretty good. I walked a lot today but it’s a nice/cool day to explore the city. Time to shower and bed!
Hey Justin. Just did some catch up on your blog and the Africa pictures were amazing, and I’m sure those don’t even do it justice. It looks like you’re having a great time, thanks for sharing it with us. Props to you for trying all of the exotic food (camel meat, ox balls, etc…)
Hey Kyel, yes, the scenery in Africa is tough to capture. I hope I offered a glance of it. And… Ox balls are just not tasty. š Please say hello to Darren for me!
Labor camp for Italian? Germany,Italy and Japan were the Axis! Hope I have the chance to visit Brandenburg gate and Victory Column. I think you walked at least 5 miles on history day in Berlin. Keep walking!
I got plenty of exercise from walking for sure!
